Zero-waste Shopper
This versatile bag bridges the worlds of zero-waste sewing and handweaving to create a functional and sustainable object.
The weave structure of this project is an interpretation of the classic overshot design, Whig Rose. This traditional pattern, renowned for its intricate and elegant motifs, has been reimagined with a modern, block motif in the center.
By combining a wool tabby with a cotton pattern weft, the design gains rich texture and dimension. After washing and pressing, the wool shrinks, bringing the smooth cotton to the forefront against the matte wool background.
This interplay creates a striking visual effect, highlighting the intricate motifs of the adapted Whig Rose pattern.
This project features the #zwshopper pattern designed by the innovative brand Bag.uettes. Known for their commitment to sustainability, Bag.uettes creates patterns that maximize fabric usage, eliminating waste. This thoughtful approach reduces environmental impact and encourages creativity in design. Each piece is carefully planned to ensure every bit of fabric is utilized, resulting in stylish and eco-friendly creations that are both functional and fashionable.
